The decline in cargo handling volumes in November was mainly a result of the decreased liquid cargoes handled by the Muuga port, while other cargo groups increased. The volumes of containers and rolling stock increased by respectively 3.9% and 10%, Port of Tallinn said on Monday.
The volume of containers in twenty-foot equivalents (TEU) grew by 3.8%. Compared with November 2015 the volume of bulk cargoes and mixed cargoes grew by 8% and 9.9%, respectively.
In the first 11 months of the year cargo carriage fell 10.6% to 18.6 mln tons.
The ports received 140 visits by freight ships during the month and 1,631 visits during the 11-month period.
