The Road Administration has announced the opening of the 13-kilometer-long ice road between the mainland and the island of Kihnu.
Western region director Heiti Popp told uudised.err.ee that the road was open and vehicles were already using it as of this morning.
"Today the ice road will be open from 08:00 to 17:00, but since it is getting light now, tomorrow it will be open from 07:00," said Popp.
The road will be open to vehicles with a mass of up to 2.5 tons.
If the weather remains stable - Estonia is currently experiencing a high pressure system and mostly blue skies - it will be possible to keep it open until the end of the month, she said.
Kihnu, which has a population of 600, has a culture that is part of UNESCO's heritage list.
Three of the Estonia's six official ice roads are now open.
