The first Logistics Summer School 2013 was focused on the usage of smart solutions in production and retail supply chains, and also transport planning, international logistics and purchase management. It was held in Tallinn University of Technology in June and August and had almost 200 registrants from 10 different countries, including Pakistan and Nigeria. The average participation was 70 people per day.
Logistics Summer School had four modules, from which two of them were specialized for newbies. The lecturers were mostly practitioners with international background from corporations like Coca Cola Hellenic, Prisma, Ensto, Rimi Baltics, Ericsson Estonia, PKC Estonia, Telema, etc and appreciated specialists from universities and institutions in Estonia, Finland, Austria, Germany, Netherland and USA.
The Logistics Summer School was organized by the Department of Logistics and Transportation of Tallinn University of Technology that was found last year and which study and academic work is focused on logistics, transport planning and supply chain management. The summer school was financed by Archimedes Foundation as a part of the project: „Development of unified programs of “Supply chain management” and “Logistics” in the master level of logistics in co-operation with Tallinn University of Applied Science and Tallinn University of Technology derived by the need of labour market.“
