Estonia could be the maritime portal into the rest of the world for Kazakhstan
The third session of the Estonia-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in Tallinn. In connection with the session, the members of the Estonian Logistics Cluster had a meeting with Askar Zhumagaliyev, the Minister of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan.
The aim of the commission activities is to lay the groundwork for bilateral cooperation in the areas of investment, transit, energy, tourism, agriculture, education, science and research, culture, and health care.
The partnership of the two countries in the fields of transport and logistics has been successful so far, yet there is a potential for way more. As stated by the Kazakh Minister of Transport and Communications, the Kazakhstan membership in the customs union with Belarus and Russia enables for much faster and more capacious freight transport through the Estonia’s harbours.
The Estonian Logistics Cluster has frequented Kazakhstan repeatedly in connection with co-operation projects. According to Mr. Juhan Parts, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications, participating in the 2nd session of the intergovernmental committee of Estonia and Kazakhstan, Estonia could be the maritime portal into the rest of the world for Kazakhstan.
Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip accompanied by a business delegation including the representatives from logistics and transport companies will visit Kazakhstan on 6‑8 September.
The Estonian Logistics Cluster is planning their next trip to Kazakhstan on 18‑22 September already in order to visit the TransitKazakhstan trade fair.
